What You Need to Know to Spot Hidden Payment Processing Fees
No matter how you slice it, if you own a business, you’re going to need a payment processor. But [...]
The payment processing industry suffers from a lack of clarity.
Business owners know they need payment processing, but they’re not sure what they’re paying for, why they’re paying so much, or how to decipher what’s on their statement.
Seeing how convoluted things are for people who need payment processing, we decided to create a company that makes sure things are clearly expressed, and easy to understand.
Instinctively, we chose the name Lucid Payments because it represents our commitment to ensuring absolute clarity for our customers.
At Lucid Payments, we’re on a mission to put our customers first.
Since day one, we’ve set out to disrupt the payment processing industry by working against practices that are not in the best interests of business owners.
While our competitors overcomplicate things, inflate prices, and cause confusion for their customers, we’re doing the exact opposite.
We’ll fight to ensure you get the best possible deal, provide impeccable customer service, make sure you understand exactly what you’re paying for, and do everything in our power to show how much we appreciate you.
Because at the end of the day, if it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t be here.
At the same time, we want to do whatever we can to encourage Canadians to keep their hard-earned dollars within our borders.
Working in an industry dominated by foreign corporations, we pride ourselves on giving fellow Canadians the ability to support our economy by working with a family-owned and operated company that’s 100% Canadian.
Aside from working to strengthen the Canadian economy, we’ve also forged a strong commitment to giving back to the communities that have helped to ensure our success.
We give generously to what we feel are some of the worthiest causes, including:
Over the course of my life, everything I’ve been through seems to have led me to where I am now.
At the age of 21, I became the first woman in Canada to work as a guard in a men’s prison.
Then, after resigning from my duties as a correctional officer, I founded a marketing company during the dot-com boom of the early 2000s.
My time in corrections helped me to thicken my skin and build my character, while more than a decade in marketing gave me a crash course on how to run a business, and eventually inspired me to enter the world of payment processing.
Despite all the ups and downs, I have nothing but gratitude for my experiences, which have given me the intuition, ingenuity, tenacity, and people skills I needed to be successful in what I’m doing now.
Currently, I live with my husband in Abbotsford, where I’ve resided for over 40 years. My family is very important to me, and luckily, I have a large extended family who all live within driving distance, so we get to spend a lot of time together.
When I’m not working or spending time with my family, I love to knit, crochet, and stay active by riding my Peloton bike and going to the gym whenever I can.
Yours truly,
Surge Cumiskey
Janelle Cumiskey
Sales Manager
I’m passionate about what I do because I love people, and I love finding solutions for our customers and making sure they know exactly what they’re paying for and why. I use a no-nonsense approach, which customers appreciate because it gives them more time to focus on building their businesses. Family is everything to me, and working with my family gives me a real sense of pride.
When I’m not fighting for the best interests of our customers, I love spending time outdoors, hiking, and going on adventures with my beloved dog, Dill. I also play goalie for the Abby Lightning women’s soccer team.
Steven Cumiskey
VP of Operations
I’ve been the VP of Operations at Lucid Payments for more than 10 years. I love to help customers identify where they’re paying too much, and help them reduce those costs so their businesses can run more efficiently. My main duties include statement analysis, data entry, and general customer support. I’m very knowledgeable when it comes to reading and understanding merchant statements, so if you have a question about something on your statement I can definitely help.
When I’m not helping our customers save money, I love camping, watching hockey, reading, and playing video games, as well as the piano.
